An important meeting will take place on Saturday, November 18 at 11am in the One World Room in Anabel Taylor Hall, on the Cornell University campus where we meet for the Jumuah prayer.
The purpose of the meeting will be to form a new corporation under the laws governing religious organizations in New York State. The Al-Huda Charitable Trust has been collecting and managing the money and assets for establishing the masjid, but it is now necessary to create another legal organization to care for and operate the building and establish the services that are needed to serve the Muslims in our community.
To be eligible to vote it is necessary to become a member. A membership form can be downloaded by clicking here. It should be completed and returned no later than Friday, November 17 so that there can be adequate time to prepare for the voting.
In addition to voting on whether or not to form the new legal organization, there will be a vote on a name for the corporation and election for an initial Board of Directors, who will serve until the first general election after the corporation has gained its legal status. A date will also be chosen for the first general election.
We need for nominations to be submitted for brothers and sisters who would be willing to serve on the initial Board if elected. The nomination procedures will be outlined on the Al-Huda website soon.
